Yi-Chien Lian 連怡茜
Taiwanese cellist Yi-Chien Lian served as Principal Cello of the Denver Philharmonic Orchestra and the Symphony of the Rockies.
She appeared regularly as a guest artist with the Colorado Symphony and the Front Range Chamber Players, and played in the cello section of the Boulder Symphony.
She began the cello as a child, studying with Mariusz Kowalski and Yu-Ning Li, and took her Bachelor of Arts in Music at Soochow University in Taipei with Yu-Wen Chou. In 2019 she moved to the United States for a Master of Music at The University of Texas at Austin, where she studied with Bion Tsang and served as Principal Cello of the university orchestras.
Her repertoire runs from the Baroque to the Romantic — Bach's solo suites through to the Schumann concerto — and her playing is divided fairly evenly between orchestral, solo and chamber work. Chamber music has been central since her student years, from duo to quartet.
Since 2021 she has been closely involved in community outreach concerts across Texas and Colorado, performing regularly in schools, libraries and community venues. In her teaching, most of her students are working towards entrance examinations, competitions and orchestral auditions, and she also coaches chamber ensembles. She holds performance to a high standard, with particular attention to the logic of phrasing and to the shaping of tonal colour.
台灣大提琴家連怡茜，曾任美國丹佛愛樂管弦樂團與落磯山交響樂團大提琴首席。
她經常受邀與科羅拉多交響樂團、Front Range 室內樂團合作演出，並曾任博爾德交響樂團大提琴團員。
連怡茜自幼習琴，先後師事馬士傑（Mariusz Kowalski）與李毓寧，大學就讀東吳大學音樂學系，師事周幼雯教授。2019 年赴美，於德州大學奧斯汀分校取得音樂碩士學位，師事比昂・曾（Bion Tsang）教授，在學期間擔任德州大學管弦樂團大提琴首席。
她的曲目橫跨巴洛克到浪漫派，從巴赫的無伴奏組曲到舒曼的協奏曲；樂團、獨奏與室內樂在她的演奏生活裡分量相當。室內樂從學生時期起就是重心，二重奏到四重奏都是她長期投入的形式。
2021 年起，她深耕於德州與科羅拉多州的社區推廣音樂會，經常受邀至學校、圖書館與各社區場館演出。教學上，她的學生多以準備升學考試、音樂比賽及樂團甄選為目標，並同時涵蓋室內樂指導。連怡茜對音樂表現有著極高的標準，尤其注重樂句邏輯的推演與音色層次的掌握。
